Rick Heyke
Senior Advisor, Focus, LLC
Before becoming a FOCUS Senior Advisor, Rick Heyke had over 23 years'
experience in domestic and international corporate finance at three
major investment banking firms, and 15 years' experience as a transactional
and regulatory lawyer. He has handled mergers, unilateral tender
offers, private equity, private debt placements, stock offerings,
high grade and high yield debt issues and project financings. Rick
was head of European corporate finance for Smith Barney after previously
running its Japanese operation and functioning as corporate finance
department domestic and international trouble-shooter to close deals
that were unlikely to close and turn around troubled relationships
with clients. His clients ranged from large multinational corporations
such as Ingersoll-Rand and Mitsui & Co. to small companies trying
to grow.
After graduating from law school at age 50, Rick worked for 6 years
at the Federal Reserve Board in Washington, where he was involved
in the reduction of the banking system's non-interest bearing reserves
against deposits from $33 billion to $7 billion. He subsequently
handled securities, mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance,
private equity and domestic and international project finance transactions
(including bankruptcy support) and advised on bank and securities
regulatory matters for over 9 years as a lawyer at Winston &
Strawn LLP, where he remains Of Counsel. He is a member of the Illinois
and DC Bars.
Rick received a B.S. in Physics magna cum laude from Yale University
in 1964 and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. He received his M.B.A.
from Harvard Business School in 1966, concentrating on finance and
international business, and his J.D. from the University of Chicago
Law School in 1993.
